My best friend Alicia. 11½ years and counting. What can I say about her? She drives me completely insane lol. She makes life interesting, and she makes me laugh more than anybody I know (except for myself lol). I absolutely adore her personality, she’s genuinely one of a kind.
I don’t know anybody who has dealt with more struggle in their life than she has, all the while keeping a smile on her face every single day. Raising her two kids, Angelica and Anthony, as a single mother for as long as I’ve known her. Before we met she had a cancerous brain tumor, and had surgery to have it removed. A large scar across the left side of her head remains. She has suffered from small episodes caused by epilepsy for years. She also recently found out she is anemic.
None of this defines her as a person, though. As far as I’m concerned, she’s a survivor, and stronger than anyone I know. She is by far the most self-less person I have ever met. I’m extremely proud of all her accomplishments. She has grown so much, and is a completely different person than the Alicia I met so long ago. She has helped me grow as a person, too. She taught me kindness, compassion, empathy, how to love, and how to bring out the inner child in me. I’m forever grateful for her friendship.
I don’t know anyone stronger than she is, at the young age of 20. She’s had to grow up faster than most, and sacrificed her teenage years to help her mom run the household, and help raise her younger brother Anthony. She’s so much stronger than she realizes. It’s obvious to me that she gets it from her mom.
She may be quiet and shy (at first), but her personality shines through to everyone she opens up to. I gotta say she’s pretty damn funny, too lol. She’s on the right path with school, and I couldn’t be more proud of her. I hope that now in adulthood she makes herself a priority and finds success, good health, prosperity and happiness on her journey.
I did my best to capture her as I see her. Helica, I hope you see yourself the same way. Beautiful, strong, confident, funny, responsible, honest, kind, and caring. Love you, your mom and Anthony. And Penny! lol *big hugs*.
Introducing my favorite dog in the world, Penny. She’s Alicia’s 3rd child lol.
Unfortunately, I never grew up with dogs in the house. I never used to understand people’s immense love for their dogs and treating them like a member of the family, like their own child. That is, until I met Penny.
She’s the most adorable, intelligent, brave (sometimes), playful, hilarious, and precious doggy. I just love her personality. Her excitement when I come over to visit puts a huge smile on my face every time. ☺
